THE ACCUSED To Debut 'Martha Splatterhead' Mascot At Seattle Gig
October 20, 2006Seattle's reigning kings of "splatter rock" THE ACCUSED will debut their long-time mascot "Martha Splatterhead" live, on-stage during their performance Saturday, October 28 in Seattle, Washington at Studio Seven. With the show being just prior to Halloween night, THE ACCUSED will also judge the audience in a costume contest wherein first place wins "a real dead body!" according to a press release. Also scheduled to appear are MENTORS, D.E.K., MECHANICAL DOLLS and the debut of "National Embalming School Cheerleaders", to be filmed in high-definition color for future broadcast on Something Weird Video's digital cable, on-demand service (broadcast to over 10 million homes).
Until now, Martha Splatterhead was merely a ficticious character, invented by THE ACCUSED in a nod toward their fellow rockers, IRON MAIDEN — who of course have "Eddie." Martha has been drawn in various blood-curdling ways on album covers, t-shirts and flyers for over 20 years. She has been the "go-to" gal for several lyrical topics in songs by THE ACCUSED, including "Martha's Revenge", "She's The Killer", "She's Back" and others.
